When she graduated from high-school and was awarded a full scholarship for tuition to University of Toronto where she studied theatre with a double degree in psychology and Sociology. Contractor auditioned at the prestigious Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario, Canada, for Pericles. After an entire year of auditions, she was offered the lead part. After two weeks of performances, she got positive reviews. The play was deemed the top production in Canada by critics. Contractor accepted the invitation to join Stratford's Conservatory. There are only eight males as well as four females get accepted for the 20-week course in classical theater. Contractor's participation in the next season's production was confirmed. She was cast in the role in Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
